EPA was pushing for a stricter standards of air pollution but the new standards were opposed by utilities, stated that "compliance would be technically difficult and prohibitively expensive". Although EPA believe that stricter air quality standards can reduce the related health disorders and illness, the Electric Reliability Coordinating Council, a group of utilities, had asked the EPA to reconsider the rule. This rises the conflict between general health care and business.

  1. I think that companies are very powerful and only interested in money. In this case they are risking the lives or quality of lives of many inhabitant. I think that the EPA should definitely push towards stricter standards on air pollution. Hopefully the public will have a say on such a vital issue. I agree with Justin, and there should be a balance between a clean environment and business, but health should still always come first. Sadly depending on who it is affecting, health can be overlooked, seeing profit as a priority.
